Denmark joins the European Mile with a walking campaign and a running event.

WE WALK

We Walk is an initiative for everyone, which aims to get Danes outside to move together with their family, neighbours, colleagues, classmates or friends. It takes place several times a year all around Denmark. Big and small, young and old can join the We Walk community by participating in one of the multiple walks or by organising own local event.

In 2021 We Walk will take place twice: from 10 to 16 May and from 11 to 17 October. You can find the walk in your neighborhood here.

We Walk is also part of the #BeActive European Week of Sport Denmark.

STRANDVEJEN 5K AND 1 MILE RUN

Strandvejen is a family running event taking place along the seaside nearby Copenhagen and organised by DGI Storkøbenhavn. It will take place on 26 September 2021 on two distances: 1 mile and 5 kilometers. The route is also known as the flattest 5k run in Denmark.

The event is open for everyone, kids and adults. You can register and find the details here.

Strandvejen run is also part of the #BeActive European Week of Sport Denmark.

WHAT IS THE IDEA BEHIND EUROPEAN MILE?

The EUROPEAN MILE is one of our brand new events, that we are organising, as an official European Week of Sport event. The concept of the EUROPEAN MILE is designed to build a bridge between ISCA and European Week of Sport. It will focus on using public streets for citizens’ activities and mobility, and thus celebrate both the heathy and environmentally friendly modes of transport, and the broader benefits of physical activity. In addition, EUROPEAN MILE is part of the year-round ISCA campaign NowWeMOVE, which has the vision of getting 100 million more Europeans active in sport or physical activity by 2020.
